E. J. Ouellette is an award-winning American fiddler, singer, composer, and producer whose music bridges the traditional sounds of New England with the broader Atlantic folk world. A multi-instrumentalist and bandleader, he has spent more than four decades performing throughout the United States and internationally as both a solo artist and with his band E. J. Ouellette & Crazy Maggy. EJO is an indigenous New England “Regional Roots Artist”.
Ouellette’s music draws from the deep fiddle traditions of New England, shaped by his Irish, Scottish, Acadian/Frano-American & Cape Breton influences that helped define the cultural life of the Merrimack Valley and coastal New England. His performances combine instrumental virtuosity, original songwriting, and storytelling rooted in regional history. Let’s not forget the dance elements. The audience cannot stay still.
He has performed across New England, Boston, New York City, Pennsylvania, Los Angeles, Nashville, Canada’s Prince Edward Island, Ireland, and France, including a performance at the Zenith Theater in Paris alongside Senegalese artist Baaba Maal. In 2024 he was honored as Musician of the Year (Multi-Instrumentalist) at the Josie Music Awards.
E. J. Ouellette’s mission is to celebrate and sustain the rich fiddle traditions of New England while contributing new music to the evolving American folk canon. Inspired by the Irish, Cape Breton/Scottish, and Franco-American influences that shaped the Nor’east. His performances connect historic dance music and storytelling with modern audiences. Through decades of performance, recording, production, and teaching, Ouellette continues to share and expand the cultural heritage of the region. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to keeping New England’s musical traditions alive on stages across the United States and internationally.
I am grateful for these awards and nominations in 2025 and recently in 2026.
